Saiyidah Aisyah Mohamed Rafa'ee

a.k.a Aisyah Gala/Aisyah Rower

Team Singapore rower,

Singapore Rowing Association Athlete,

and a true blue Singaporean proud of my Malay/Polynesian roots.

Growing up with 4 brothers made me competitive by nature. Everything was a competition when we all used to live under one roof- food, Sega Saturn, even the toilet!

I was always the sporty one in the family, despite being the only girl in the family. I picked up Netball at age 10 and since then had represented my schools for 8 years, became captain of my school team for 2 years and was selected in Netball Singapore's 15 and Under National Squad in 2003. I play football recereationally, too. And I love hitting the gym and running.

I was a Physical Education teacher and was a Personal Trainer and a Coach in both Rowing and Netball. Now, I am a Student Development Officer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic where I teach the Sports and Wellness classes. I truly enjoy imparting the knowledge of fitness and spreading the love for sports. There are so many benefits that come with being fit and healthy and I always believe that it is such a waste not to be able to find out how strong your body is capable of becoming.

I am a strong advocator of  hard work and dedication and I constantly remind my students to have a dream and work for it, no matter how unattainable they think it is. Believe, I would say. Believe that you can.

xx
